The Prairie Meets the River

Abstract Instructions
(for Oral Presentations and Poster Presentations)

The deadline for Abstract submission is April 28, 2008.  You may submit your abstracts beginning now.  Abstracts will be published on this website as they are received and accepted.

Registered participants may present at only one session, either an Oral Session or a Poster Session.  Registered participants may be listed on more than one Abstract.

Abstract Format Instructions:  (Follow this link to for an example.)
To provide for uniformity of the printed Abstracts and reduce publication costs, please:
  • Use Microsoft Word
  • Use Times New Roman or a similar font
  • Use Font Size 12
  • First Line: Enter the Title in bold capital letters
  • (Blank Line)
  • 1st Author Line:  If the author is presenting the topic, enter an asterisk.  Enter the author's name in CAPITALS followed  by a comma and the postal address of the author in "Title" format.

  • 2nd Author and additional authors are entered using the same format as for the 1st author.

  • The abstract itself (250 words or less), beginning with the Italicized first word Abstract:

  • Key Words / Search Terms: followed by a list of key words not already mentioned within the title.

  • Oral Presentation (or Poster Presentation) is requested.  (Whichever applies.  We will attempt to honor your presentation type request on a first-submitted = first-served basis.  If presentation type fills, you will be notified of remaining alternate presentation type.)

  • Presentation Needs: followed by a list of what equipment will be needed:  slide projector, computer and projector for PowerPoint presentation, overhead projector, whiteboard, etc

  • Appropriate Session: followed by whichever of the following categories is most appropriate for your topic:

Anthropology (cultural, social aspects of prairie)

Agriculture (soil)

Educational issues

Invasive species affecting prairies

Landscape ecology

Prairie and the river

Prairie and sustainability

Prairie entomology (and other arthropods)

Prairie exhibits (art, literature, photography, history)

Prairie management (fire, prairie establishment)

Plant physiology and botany

Prairie restoration

Prairie wetlands

Prairie zoology

Riparian flood plain
Seeds, seed ecology, seedlings
