Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge
Brief description of site and highlights of site (habitat, flora, fauna):
  • Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge has an variety of habitats that the tour group will enjoy getting to see. 
  • From the observation deck folks will be able to enjoy a lush wetland view with many diverse aquatic plants and wildlife. 
  • Adjacent to the observation deck is a wonderful 1 mile woodland trail and the prairie tour will cover a portion of the refuge where intense prairie restoration and management efforts are on-going.

  • Round trip walking distance from bus: 1.5 miles or more

  • Rigor of field trip:

  • Potential hazards at site:  biting flies, hot temps in August, poison ivy.
